Am I a Good Candidate for Neurolenses®?

According to the American Academy of Ophthalmology, many people suffer from binocular vision dysfunction (BVD or “subtle eye misalignment”) without even knowing it. Oftentimes, they go to their doctors for relief and then go home misdiagnosed. Their treatments don’t target the real issue that is BVD. To determine what is really happening, technological advances in eye health have given birth to Neurolens®. If you want to see if you are a good candidate for neurolenses, here’s what you should know.

Persistent Neck Pain

For your eyes to function properly, your eyes should work in sync. This can only happen if your eyes are level. When you can’t see well, you often try to correct your vision by tilting your head. This constant tilting causes neck strain and neck muscle spasms.

Spinal Condition

Below are two of the common spinal misalignments threading 2at can cause binocular vision dysfunction:

  • Scoliosis. If you have scoliosis, your spinal misalignment forces your eyes to view in a tilted manner.

  • Torticollis. This condition involves changes in the posturing of the neck and head in flexion, tilt, and rotation. Spasms in your neck muscles usually cause this. If your head constantly changes position involuntarily, you cannot hold a steady vision.

Chronic Headaches

Even the slightest misalignment of the eyes can result in a heavy strain on your eye muscles. The pressure in your eyes causes various types of headaches. People who have atypical migraines, regular migraines, sinus headaches, and tension headaches are usually misdiagnosed. The true problem may actually be BVD.

Asthenopia

Also known as ocular fatigue, asthenopia happens when your eyes become too exhausted from excessive use. One example is working on your computer for hours. Another is forcing yourself to see in poorly lit environments. Symptoms of asthenopia can differ from one person to another. Your asthenopia may be accompanied by watery eyes, pain around your eyes, sensitivity to light, nausea, and migraines.

Motion Sickness

Your eye muscles tend to get strained when they try to align themselves during changes in direction. This can be accompanied by dizziness, lightheadedness, disorientation, and migraines. Their intensity and frequency are usually triggered by:

  • Driving through curves

  • Up and down, side to side movement of the head

  • Standing up quickly

  • Driving on a high-speed, busy highway

  • Boat rides

Eyestrain

You usually experience this when your eyes get tired from long hours of intense use. You should see your eye doctor right away when you experience eyestrain. It may be an indication of BVD.

Feeling of Drifting

You can also have a Neurolens test if you feel as if you are drifting while walking. The imbalance in your eyesight distorts your depth perception. It is usually accompanied by anxiety and disorientation.
